"It felt great helping others and I continue to do so on an everyday basis though it may be on a smaller scale. Thank you for letting me be a part of this wonderful experience!”

Today, many dedicated volunteers from all walks of life work with paid staff to provide assistance free of charge to children and parents in need. A few hours of your time - on a regular basis or every once in a while - will help prevent child abuse in our community and will make a difference in a child’s life.
You can choose how often you want to volunteer – from once a week to once a year! Our annual special events include our Giving Tree during the holiday season and our Spare the Children & Help Strike Out Abuse Bowl-a-thon in the Spring. In between these annual events, we have a variety of other fun activities, such as our Breaking Bread for Children fundraiser which enables you to help children simply by dining at one of the participating restaurants.
If you would like to work directly with children, we have many opportunities for volunteering on a regular basis. These include: providing child care at one of our weekly parent support groups, answering our Parent Help-Line, or mentoring a youth who needs your help.
As a volunteer, you will receive:
:: Specialized ongoing training and support
:: Professional supervision
:: Optional weekly in-house training
:: The satisfaction of knowing you are making a difference in a child’s life
Internships
From MSW interns to undergraduate interns to high school students with community service hours to fulfill, eligible students may receive credit hours as well as valuable professional and personal experience.
For more information or to volunteer, please contact our Volunteer Coordinator, Holly Hahn-Baker at 716.822.0919 or via email.
We are committed to each child we touch…sometimes for a brief time, but often for a lifetime. Just think of the possibilities. Together we will make a difference!
